The Parkway 6th Grade basketball team overcame a sluggish start and a 10-0 deficit to defeat Oakland Christian 34-24 on Monday night. After being shut out in the first three minutes, the Eagles surged to finish the first half with 25 points.
Brandon Thomas had his best shooting performance of the season, leading Parkway with 25 points and 5 steals. Mekhi Conner scored in every quarter to end with 7 points, to go along with his team high 14 rebounds.
Caleb Walcott scored 2, and also contributed 6 steals, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists
Sandro Taormina, Evan Carter, and Jacob Bellinger were strong on the glass for Parkway, while Nathan Whitcher and Aaron Ondra posted great defense both in the frontcourt and down low.
Because of the snow day on Tuesday the 12th, Parkway’s final scheduled game is canceled, so the 6th grade team finishes the season with a 7-4 record. The Eagles finished strong, with a 3 game winning streak to close things out.
